Just like you, I wear a bunch of different hats. As a blogger and business owner during the day....
I am also a busy wife, mom, grandma, daughter, friend and sister. I am loud and outgoing. I have never met a stranger. I love to hug everyone. Sugar is my addiction...which my ever changing older...er body wishes would go away.
I have made more mistakes in my life than I can count. I never knew what was right and wrong except when it came to the 10 Commandments...and I definitely know I never killed anyone!
I grew up in the bra burning, woman's rights, 'you don't tell me what to do' era.
I got caught up in the 'gimme gimme's' of life and everything seemed to revolve around what I had, did not have, and thought I desperately needed.
I never saved any money. I've made bad investments. I've made bad choices. I have let people down. People have disappointed me. I've been hurt, cried, and tried to move on.
Unbeknownst to me...I was in an identity crisis my whole life. I was never happy with what I looked like or who I was. I was either too skinny or too fat (and, looking back those 'too fat's' would be welcome right now)!
I was always told that I was too loud or too bold or too crazy or too...whatever the flavor of the day was at the time.
I took all of those 'too's' to heart and spent years upon years trying to find what would change and satisfy me. And nothing did.
I started writing Positively Jane in 2019. After all of my own life's challenges, I discovered Jesus when I was in my early 50's. Jesus totally changed me from the inside out. The old became new. I was a new person.
As a result, through all of the teachings of scripture, I was considered a wise person. Not only did I know a lot about many subjects, I would then filter my thoughts and actions through the truth of scripture.
I realized that there were many women who did not know the truths that I knew and I wanted to share everything I could with others. Because I want every woman on Earth to learn how to choose joy...everyday.
Joy is a choice. Joy is not based on circumstances. At the same time, all of those things in life can wear a person down, right?
1 - Navigating those muddy waters of finances. Because finances can definitely steal your joy.
If this is your first time here I would love for you to know me better. Every article I write is for YOU. Every article I write comes from personal experience.
Got some extra time? Start by reading why I Choose Joy Everyday, Are you worthy, who does God say you are.
And then move on to: How to get your finances under control, why a daily gratitude journal is a must and why I make my bed.
There might just be some hidden nuggets that are just what you need right now.
And, just in case you are a tad confused, because there is SO much to read and find....
Positively Jane is a website dedicated to helping you minimize the stress and overwhelm that comes with life, so that you are able to get on the path of living a joyful life...everyday.
My main focus is helping you find your financial freedom so that you can become financially independent.
When you have resources to help you manage and budget your money, streamline your daily activities, manage your to-do lists, PLUS posts on how to navigate life as a woman including retirement, relationships, and hardships....life tends to get a tad easier. And Positively Jane has tons of resources for you, including hundreds of blog posts.
Creating a budget (and staying on your budget) are one of the most important things you can ever do. And, when spending is out of control or you can't feed your family...stress sets in. And stress is the #1 Joy Stealer for sure. So many posts about saving for retirement, setting up an emergency fund, plus setting up a budget...all waiting for YOU.
Positively Jane, aka Jane Shine, believes that every person on the planet, including you, has the ability to live a joyful life. And because living a joyful life is sometimes misunderstood or hard to grasp I have created resources and written posts for you to read.
Eating healthy and choosing NON-toxic everything - from skin care, diapers and sunscreen, are essential to your everyday well being. And, as you age, this becomes more important than ever!
Positively Jane is not a Christian website. But, as a follower of Jesus, everything I write about is seen through the lens of God. You do NOT have to believe in God to reap the benefits of His advice. But, ONE very important message that He would like to share with you is this: YOU are LOVED. YOU are WORTHY. YOU are ENOUGH.
I love life and all that it has to offer. I love to laugh and have fun. I think that the glass is ALWAYS half full and very rarely empty. I Choose Joy...everyday. Because why would I want to live any other way? If you're ready to choose joy in your life, my lifestyle blog for women is for you!
As a blogger, I do juggle All.The.Things - just like I am sure you do everyday as well. When I am looking for something I do tons of research before I buy. And why waste all of that good research….
So, I created a place where you can find all of my personal faves. From health & beauty, budgeting, card making & crafts, books, mugs, shoes, hats and more, these are my favorite lifestyle products for women. Consider this your go-to resource for all things Positively Jane. You might as well bookmark this page right now!
As we go through life, chapters of our story are written. Some of those chapters are long...and some are pretty short. Oftentimes the words on the page are not of our own making. Sometimes we write them ourselves. But, in either case...we choose the ending. Did you know that joy is a choice...and does not come from your circumstances? I would like to encourage you to Choose Joy...everyday.
At one point, at about the age of 48, I thought that if I had a million dollars ALL of my problems would go away. So I went to
work to earn my millions. Little did I know that the lack of money was not the problem - the problem was inside of me in a deeper
way. I had a longing in me that had nothing to do with anything this earth could fulfill.
Now, I knew that Jesus existed and that he was the son of God. But, seriously, who really cared. Certainly not me. I didn’t need Jesus. And read the Bible? What was the point of that? It was a book that was over 2000 years old (and put together by men) and I was a 20th century girl……thank you very much....
I have evolved into who I am today…..with so many detours, potholes, and mistakes along the way it isn’t even funny.
God has many amazing things to say about you
