How is your year going so far? 16 days in. 1/24 of the year is over. Did you make resolutions…and have you already quit or find them hard?
Did you know that the meaning of resolution is: ‘The firm decision to do or not to do something’? Do you think that just deciding to do, or not to do something, makes any difference? Does change come from the deciding? Or does change come from change?
What I mean is – change can only happen when our thoughts change. We need to re-program our minds. The decision in itself will not create the change. Here are a few examples:
You have decided to lose weight. This is your year. But, until you change the narrative in your head, find out why you eat the whole pizza, or just don’t care because it’s too hard…….nothing will change. And then you have another narrative in your head…..that you are a quitter.
You have decided to go to the gym and work out. But, why are you going to the gym? Because you are ‘supposed’ to go or your doctor told you to go? Until you know your why…..it will be very difficult for you to stick with it.
You have decided to get your spending under control. But, until you know why it is out of control and change a bunch of habits…..you won’t be able to reign it in.
So far this year I have committed to a few things that have programs attached to them. I am not calling them resolutions because I don’t think resolutions work…..change can happen at any time. Do you think they work? For some reason tho, a new year does spark a fire within us tho.
My F.I.T. program with Cathy Zielske. This Is a year-long program that is very simple. Once a month Cathy sends different ideas/goals to focus on. And, the bonus for me is that I am going to create a mini scrapbook, journal about it, and share it with you all.
Phit-n-Phat with Corrine Crabtree. She has 4 things a person must do to lose weight….and they seem so simple.
I have come to realize that I need a program. I need a monthly goal. I need to be able to ask questions. I need to be held accountable. I need to FOCUS (my one little word for 2020).
I am focusing on me. My health. My body. My mind. All 3 of those programs, when you look at them together, they might seem like a lot. But, so far it is all good.
So, what are you focusing on? What are you committed to? What narrative in your head do you need to change so that you can set yourself up for success?
Here are a few past posts that might just help you out:
I am praying that I finish strong. I am praying I won’t just quit when I really have only slipped up. (Does that happen to you too…..quitting when you’ve only stumbled?)
What are you going to focus on this year? What narrative do you need to change?
