I have been collecting foiling items for a few months now and today I thought I would try them out. I have been watching quite a few videos on how to use Transfer Gel (SC | EH) and Peel n Stick Toner Sheets (EH | SC). It seemed pretty easy….and it was!!!

I dug thru my stencils and found a few that I thought would show off the shiny foil. I also made my own stencils from my background dies using Neenah 110# cardstock.. The paper stencils worked great – and I could throw them away and not have to wash them. Bonus!

I sprayed Pixie Spray (SBC | EH) on the back of the stencil in my Tim Holtz Splat Box – worked great!

I layered on the Transfer Gel (SC | EH), carefully peeled off the stencil, and set it aside to dry. I also made sure that I put my plastic stencils in a bowl of soapy water to soak -the gel will dry and won't come off!. I also preheat my Royal Soverign Laminator for about 30 minutes – to make sure it was good and hot.

I wanted a subtle contrast between the sentiment and the background. It is very hard to catch it all on camera.

I made quite a few backgrounds in the video – I only turned a few into cards.

For this card I used the Simon Says Stamp Folk Dance Stencil foiling with Deco Foil Rainbow foil. I kept the top of the card 4.25 x 5.5. I popped it up on craft foam. I cut the sentiment out of Peel n Stick Toner Sheets (EH | SBC) using Simon Says Stamp Hellos die. I then foiled with Gina K Radiant Red (GK | EH | SBC) I also cut 3 additional die cuts out of Neenah Solar White 110# cardstock and glued them all together for dimension. I cut a 1” strip of Ellen Hutson 40# vellum to place beind the sentiment. The envelope is Simon Stamp Island Blue.

I love this green foil! I used the My Favorite Things Floral Fusion cover up die and made my own stencil from Neenah 110# cardstock. I foiled with Gina K Glittering Green (GK | EH | SBC). The sentiment is The Stamp Market Paper Hug. It is a layering die. I cut 3 layers of Neenah 110# cardstock, glued them together. I used the Deco Foil Peel N Stick toner sheets (EH | SBC) for the sentiment and put the green Paper Hugs on top. The sentiment strip is from Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Background Stamp and Die. That stamp/die set is a must for any crafter. You can stamp a bunch of sentiments and die cut them all at once!! The envelope is Gina K Jelly Bean Green.

This card is one of my favorites and I am sorry if it is hard to see. I made my own stencil from Simon Says Stamp Star Medallion. I used Deco Foil Silver Sketch foil for the background and the die cut. I used The Stamp Market Hey for the die cut using Deco Foil Peel N Stick toner sheets (EH | SBC). It is a layering die – the bottom layer is Ellen Hutson 40# vellum. I die cut 3 out of white cardstock and glued them together. I put the silver foiled Hey on top. The sentiment strip is from Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Strip. It is actually printed with toner ink so I foiled it with Gina K’s Radiant Red (GK | EH | SBC). The envelope is Simon Says Stamp Metallic Silver.

I also stamped on the envelopes with Gina K Stuffed With Love (EH | GK) using Gina K Black Amalgam Ink (EH | GK).

I sure hope you like these cards and are encouraged to give foiling a try. I can see a bunch more foiling cards in my near future.
