I received the new Magnolia Table Cookbook for Mother's Day and love it!
The recipes are amazing and most are pretty easy to make. One night we had a ‘Joanna' dinner – ALL the dishes, including the dessert (Crew's Cookies), came from her cookbook. Check out the ‘Magnolia Table – Volume 2‘ cookbook.
My daughter and I decided to make sugar cookies and we chose ‘Crew's Cookies.‘ If you aren't familiar with Joanna Gaines, Crew is her baby….he turned 2 in June. And I can see why Crew would LOVE these cookies. Crunchy, sweet and easy to hold.
Now, I am very unsure how the cookies in the cookbook baked so even, round and smooth. (At least I got the round part mostly down).
Mostly round – right?
But the icing on Crew's Cookies…..how in the heck did she do that?
I followed the directions exactly and my icing was very runny. So, I added more powdered sugar….and had enough icing to ice about 500 cookies.
Cookies from the cookbook
My daughter thought it would be a good idea to just drizzle the icing on the cookies. Great idea right?! But, she forgot to put something under the cookies. As you can see – it was definitely a mess!
Enough icing for 50 more cookies!
Did we all love the cookie? Yes! Would I make them again? Yes! (With less liquid in the icing. I made a note in my cookbook).
You would also assume that I would present Crew's Cookies in a very artful manner…
…with a cute plate, glass of milk and even a cloth napkin…right? Nope! I think I got so distracted with scraping icing off the counter…and eating them…I totally forgot. Go on – make yourself a batch!
Or, better yet, make 2 batches. One for you and one for a friend. Check out my ‘Random Act of Kindness' challenge. We need more kindness in this crazy world – right?!
