The holidays are a time of gift buying. Or maybe you are like me and make most of your gifts. But either way….my favorite part comes next…the wrapping of those gifts. This year I bought a cute box for my handmade gifts, added some amazing ribbon, a handmade tag….and they looked awesome.
I mailed 13 of those boxes this year.
Included a note that said ‘Do NOT open until Christmas. The last time I checked that was December 25th’. (Because some of my people don’t follow directions well).
I have received texts telling me that boxes have arrived. And, some people just can’t stand the pressure of NOT opening. They are going crazy and blame me. Haha
Are you one of those who can’t wait? My sister used to find her wrapped gifts, unwrap them, wear them to school and then rewrap. She should have been an actress because NO ONE knew that her surprise was not genuine on Christmas Day (I wonder if mom noticed the grape jelly stain on the front of her sweaters?)
Now, there is one gift that my people can have right now.
How would you react of if I told you that there is a FREE gift, already unwrapped, sitting under the tree….just waiting for you to pick it up. In fact, this same gift is waiting for you to pick it up all year. You really don’t have to wait until Christmas.
That gift is Jesus. And today we celebrate the birth of the person who was born….so that he could give himself to you….for free. There is nothing you can do to earn this gift. You can’t buy this gift. You can’t volunteer enough, donate enough or work enough.
This gift is yours….all you have to do is find it and open it.
What is this unwrapped gift called Jesus you ask? Why do you even want this gift?
He offers you – A better way with less heartache, roadblocks, and despair. The opportunity to be a princess….a daughter of the King. Love, forgiveness and hope.
He offers you a way home….his arms are ALWAYS open and ready to give you big big hugs.
Merry Merry Christmas day!
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’ Luke 2:10-11.
