I was going through all my dies the other day and got inspired with the shaker dies that I owned. How simple is that…..making a shaker card with a shaker die! I did not do alot of stamping in these cards – just alot of die cutting. The Gemini Jr die cut machine (SBC |EH) sure came in handy for that!
For all of the cards I cut 4 or 5 each of the shaker dies. I also cut a piece of acetate to fit and taped it with scor tape behind the top die cut. I then cut the words out of all the other ones and layered the frames only behind the acetate. See the pictures below. They are all popped up on Craft Foam. I used liquid glue for this (I like Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive (SBC |EH)) – that gives me a bit of time to move them around and get them centered. All the envelopes are stamped with the Mama Elephant Happy Mail stamp – either with Gina K Black Amalgam Ink or My Favorite Things Sweet Tooth ink.
I saved all of the die cut words and made additional cards with them….I will post those cards soon. Stay tuned!
All the cards are 4.25 x 5.5 (A4 size). I used Neenah 110# card stock for the card base on all the cards.
For this card I used My Favorite Things Sweet Tooth card stock. I taped the Simon Says Stamp Falling Hearts stencil on top with purple tape (SBC | EH) and used Nuvo Glimmer Moonstone paste (SBC | EH). The colored card stock is PaperTrey Ink Berry Sorbet. The die is Pretty Pink Posh Hugs Shaker die. I used the Hero Arts Nested Circle die (SBC | EH) to cut out the acetate. I laid Little Things Pastel Paradise sequins on the card base and then put the shaker on top. That way I could line it all up and make sure it was centered. I used 1/8” scor tape for the shaker to make sure the sequins did NOT fall out.
For this card I started with Simon Says Stamp Fog Card Stock. I stamped the background with Simon Says Stamp Fog ink and the My Favorite Things Scattered Surface background stamp. The die is Pretty Pink Post Celebrate Shaker Die. I used My Favorite Things Gum Drop Green card stock (discontinued). I used My Favorite Things Sweet Tooth card stock for the shaker. This particular one has 2 layers of celebrate, acetate and then 3 layers of just the frame. The sequins are Pretty Pink Post Berry Bright.
I used the Pretty Pink Posh Love Shaker Die with My Favorite Things Sweet Tooth card stock. I colored the top layer with 2 copic markers. (I am sorry, I don’t know which ones). The stripe paper is from The Stamp Market Color Crush card stock. I used a matching piece for the inside of the heart. I cut the stripe paper with Simon Says Stamp Wonky Rectangle die. The sequins are Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Mini Flower. The orange hearts are something I had in my stash from a long time ago! The sentiment is Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words.
For this card I made my own background. The inspiration came from Jennifer McGuire. I used the Pretty Pink Posh Bold Blooms Stamp Set. I first stamped on Simon Says Stamp Fog card stock with Simon Says Stamp Fog ink. I then used the outline stamp and stamped with My Favorite Things Sweet Tooth Ink. I used the same ink on the envelope. The rectangle is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Wonky Rectangle die. The shaker is created with Pretty Pink Posh Smile Shaker die. I also used the Hero Arts Nested Circle die (SBC | EH) to cut out the acetate. I used Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Star Confetti, Kat Scrappiness White Star Confetti and Kat Scrappiness Sparkling Clear Solid Confetti for inside the shaker. If you look closely, there is a different background inside the shaker. I used MFT Sweet Tooth Ink with the Hero Arts Moire Background Stamp. I cut it out with theHero Arts Nested Circle die (SBC | EH) .
Now this background is one that I had in my stash and thought it was perfect for this card. I used Ranger Alcohol Inks for this. I will post this technique as soon as my video camera is up and running. In the meantime……The Hello die was cut with the Pretty Pink Posh Hello Shaker die using PaperTrey Ink Limeade Ice card stock. I put My Favorite Things Black Licorice card stock behind the die so that the sequins would show more. I also used the same paper for the card base. The sequins are Pretty Pink Posh Clear Mini Flower, Kat Scrappiness Sparkling Clear Solid Confetti and some random flower bits that I have had in my stash.
I sure hope I have inspired you to go thru your stash and see what you have and make a few shaker cards using the shaker dies. Happy Crafting. Go out and make some shaker cards using your shaker dies!
