How to Choose Joy and Become Who You’re Meant to Be.
Let me ask you something…
Are you the best version of yourself?
Not the version that shows up for work or the version you post online.
But the real version.
The one your family experiences. The one you see in the mirror every morning.
And here’s an even deeper question…
Would the people closest to you say you are?
The Drift We Don’t Notice
Here’s what I’ve been thinking about lately…
We spend so much time improving our lives:
Our careers
Our homes
Our finances
Our health
But how often do we stop and ask: “Am I becoming the person I actually want to be?”
Because the truth is…You don’t wake up one day and suddenly become someone you don’t recognize.
You slowly drift. Little by little.
Without even realizing it.
When Life Forces You to Look Closer
Sometimes it takes a life change to wake us up.
For me, it was watching my husband go through retirement.
What seemed like a dream at first… Became something much harder.
Because when the structure of work disappears…
You’re left with yourself.
And for a while, he wasn’t the best version of himself.
There was frustration. Irritation. Disconnection.
Until one day, he chose something different.
He stepped away… Created space… And slowly found his way back to himself.
The Moment I Turned the Question Inward
Watching that process made me ask myself:
Am I really the best version of me…or am I just telling myself I am?
And if I’m being honest…
Those weren’t easy questions.
Am I kind… or impatient?
Do I judge others?
Do I hold onto things too long?
Do I try to control everything?
But sometimes…
Honesty is exactly what we need.
What the Best Version of You Actually Looks Like
Here’s what I’ve realized.
The best version of you isn’t complicated. It’s pretty simple really.
It’s:
Choosing kindness
Letting go of control
Laughing more
Enjoying the moment
Serving others in small and meaningful ways
It’s not about perfection.
It’s about intention.
Why Choosing Joy Changes Everything
For years, I thought life required “thick skin.”
Pushing through. Toughening up.
But what I really needed wasn’t toughness.
It was perspective.
Because joy isn’t something that just happens.
Joy is something you choose.
And when you choose joy consistently…
Something shifts.
You start to:
Like the person you see in the mirror
Respond differently to life
Feel lighter, calmer, more at peace
Pay Attention to What Steals Your Joy
If you want to become the best version of yourself…
Start here:
Pay attention.
What sets you off?
What drains you?
What turns you into someone you don’t like?
And then make small, intentional changes.
Not dramatic ones.
Just consistent ones.
Life on Your Terms Means More Than Money
I talk a lot about financial freedom.
But here’s the truth:
Life on your terms includes who you are as a person.
It includes:
Your relationships
Your attitude
Your presence
Your joy
Because what’s the point of building a life…
If you don’t enjoy the person living it?
So let me ask you again…
Are you the best version of yourself?
Not perfect. Not polished.
But intentional.
Because when you choose joy daily…
You don’t just change your life.
You become someone you’re proud of.
And that’s where everything begins.
