Nixplay Digital Photo Frame
My mom will be 90 years old soon and I wanted to give her something that she didn't already have. And, since most of her family lives far away, what better gift than a digital photo frame.
After doing tons of research I found the Nixplay Digital Photo Frame and I wanted to let you know what I found out.
Pay attention to the picture quality. I ordered 1 frame and the picture quality was not good at all. I emailed them and they told me which one to buy. So, I returned that one and got the right one.
I bought the Nixplay 9.7-inch 2K Ultra Photo Frame. The image size is 5×7. The overall size is 8 3/4 x 10 3/4. It can be in horizontal or vertical position which is really nice.
The resolution is 2048 x 1536 (2K) which is perfect.
It has 8GB of storage on the frame with unlimited cloud storage. It comes in a shiny mirror finish.
Here are 2 photos from the frame. As you can see – the quality is great.
Setup was pretty simple. I just followed the instructions. (I set mine up on my desktop).
But, figuring out how to give my family the ability to add photos was a tad difficult. At first I tried the email option but the quality of the photo was sub par. I then emailed customer support again and they were very helpful.
So that you don't get as frustrated as I did – this is what they said:
#1 – Create a playlist for each family member (if you want their photos to be separate) or 1 playlist for everyone. I chose ‘standard' (on the next page) and gave it a name. I chose to name mine the names of the people the photos would come from.
#2 – Add a friend. You add their name and email address and then choose the playlist for them (the one you created in step 1 should be there).
#3 – Have your family member download the app on their phone. The link for the Apple Store is HERE. The link for Google Play is HERE.
#4 – Give my family and friends the user name and password for the account.
#5 – Once they have set up their account in the app they can add pics to the playlist that you created in step #1.
How to use the Nixplay app to send photos:
- Click on ME at the bottom
- Click on Friends
- Click your account name
- Click Send Photos
- Once you send the photo it will automatically go to the playlist you set up for each of them.
The Nixplay Digital Photo Frame also comes with a remote.
You can set the ‘awake and sleep' modes, how the pictures are displayed (shuffled, pick up where left off, most recent, etc), the length of the display and more. You can also turn the frame off with the remote.
You can also upgrade to Nixplay Plus for an additional fee. Unfortunately I can't tell you anything about it because my upgrade is not showing up in the system. I am waiting on customer service to help me out!
All in all I love the frame and can't wait to give it to my mom for her birthday. I am sure she will love having recent pictures of her family all the time.
