When my youngest daughter told me she was pregnant all I could think about was knitting! I know – so weird. I have not knit in so long and I COULD. NOT. WAIT. to see what sweaters and blankets could be created.
Since we did not know the sex of the baby at first, I started with generic blankets.
The blanket above had self striping yarn…meaning that the colors flowed from one to the other without me having to change the yarn colors.
This blanket was knitted. Since I didn't know the sex of the baby I added a light green crocheted border.
This blanket was crocheted. I realized that my crocheting days are over after making this one. When I crochet I hold the item close to my crochet hook with my thumb and pointer finger of my left hand. My thumb then just aches…guess the old age arthritis is setting in.
I knitted a few ‘lovies' too.
This little guy can't be any taller than 8″. The dress comes off :). I put a pink bow on the ear when I found out they were having a girl!
I had some fun pink/green/white yarn in my stash and knitted this cutie little guy. If you look close you can see the face that I embroidered.
Knitting baby sweaters
My daughter, Nicole, is not a fan of pink pink. Subtle is ok with her. I had patterns from years ago and I found the yarn online.
Unfortunately for Nicole, most of the yarn is hand wash and lay flat to dry. I am a terrible Grandma right?
I chose a size that I thought would be good and just knitted and knitted and knitted.
I love this little pink sweater. It is a short sweater, above the waist, and looks so cute!
This lavender sweater was fun to make. All of those cables kept me on my toes.
Nicole actually picked out this color. She had no idea what I was making. The pockets are the bomb for sure. Don't you agree?
This sweater is made with acrylic machine wash and dry yarn. It is self striping and came out really cute. I thought it would be a good camping sweater! Nicole and Zach totally agreed.
And, what is a knitted wardrobe without a hat, right?
When did I find the time?
My husband and I binge watched ‘This Is Us'. We just finished season 3. I knitted while I watched that show and a few other places. Busy hands!
Virtual baby shower
We had a virtual baby shower. This is a video of Nicole opening her box of gifts from me and my husband. It is an UNEDITED video (except for the end…the dog was barking). Haha.
