Did you know that there was a ‘Clean Your Room Day'? Nope? Me neither. And then I stumbled across this crazy article and I fell in love with the idea! A day set aside and dedicated to picking up/cleaning your room! A clean and organized room gives me such joy. Joy in the accomplishment and joy in the end result.
I have written it on my calendar and will ‘honor' it every year. The biggest question I have to ask my self is ‘ Which room am I going to choose?' Same with you too?
I am going to go literal here and use the word YOUR as the room that I choose. So, I choose my bathroom, closet and craft room. None of those rooms are very messy, but they could use some tidying up, that's for sure.
Clean Your Room Day Suggestions
1). Clean under things – Get rid of all the dust bunnies and all of those things that have ended up in the corner.
2). Donate – Go through any clothes that you have not used in 1-2 years and donate them. This also applies to anything you haven't used in other rooms. Craft supplies, make-up, old tools.
3). Containerize your things – Similar to the Home Edit style – put your small and loose things in clear bins. Put likes with likes. Much easier to find things and looks nicer too!
Now, if you have a family…get them involved too. Put on some music and dance your way through your cleaning. Make it fun. Maybe start with their own bedrooms. Try on clothes and donate the ones that do not fit. Find a home for the toys and pick them up. Clean under the bed. Wash the bedding. Give their bedrooms a good old fashioned ‘Spring Clean'. Maybe give rewards and prizes for milestones completed. Like: neatest bed made, all clothes folded, or most toys donated.
Go on and take pics. Before and afters. Post on Instagram #cleanyourroomday and join thousands of others….ok, maybe just me….in observing ‘National Clean Your Room Day' 2021
Happy cleaning…enjoy every moment.
Oh, I almost forgot…this is a picture of my craft room during Christmas…I am so busy making things it can get a tad overwhelming!
